Teens Broke Into a Texas Water Park Before Opening Weekend — Then Police Said the Damage Passed $11,000
A group of suspected teens turned a Texas water park into a crime scene just days after the park opened for the summer season, according to police in Round Rock.
The break-in happened during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, at Rock’N River Water Park, a city-owned attraction inside Old Settlers Park. For families in Round Rock, the park is one of those classic summer spots: water slides, a lazy river, splash areas for younger kids, a lagoon pool, and plenty of space for parents trying to survive the Texas heat.
But before most families were even awake that morning, police say a group had already made their way onto the property.
According to FOX 7 Austin, the Round Rock Police Department said the suspected teens broke into Rock’N River Water Park and caused more than $11,000 in theft and property damage.
Police later released security images from the park and asked the public to help identify the people involved.
The damage was not just a case of someone hopping a fence and taking a quick look around. Investigators said the group got inside by damaging part of the perimeter fence. Once they were on the property, the situation moved through the park and into areas that were clearly not open to the public.
Surveillance images showed the suspects inside the park, including near concession areas. Photos from the scene showed a mess left behind, with items scattered around and supplies disturbed. Police said the group caused both theft and property damage before leaving.
The timing made the break-in even more frustrating for the city. Rock’N River had opened for the 2026 season on May 22, just over a week before the vandalism. That reopening was also a bigger deal than usual because the park had recently completed a major expansion.
The upgrades increased the park’s capacity and added new features meant to handle bigger summer crowds. For Round Rock families, that meant the start of the season was supposed to bring more room, more attractions, and a smoother summer experience.
Instead, police were asking for help putting names to faces.
The Round Rock Police Department shared the images publicly with a pointed message, saying the suspects probably were not doing what they had told their parents they were doing. Officers also noted that the park has plenty of cameras, which captured the group during the break-in.
The department asked anyone who recognizes the people in the images to contact detectives at 512-671-2720.
As of the initial police update, no arrests had been announced. The case remained under investigation while officers reviewed tips and worked to identify the suspected teens involved.
Despite the damage, the park did not stay closed for long. Officials said Rock’N River resumed normal operations the next day, which likely came as a relief to families who had already planned weekend visits.
Still, the incident left behind a frustrating bill and a public warning. A water park built for families, kids, and summer fun had to start the season dealing with damaged property, stolen items, and police asking the community to help solve the case.
For Round Rock, the break-in was not just a prank. Police said the damage climbed past $11,000, and now they want to know who was behind it.
