Teens Accused of Breaking Into Round Rock Water Park and Causing More Than $11,000 in Damage

A Texas water park had barely opened its big new summer expansion before police say a group of suspected teens broke in after hours and left behind more than $11,000 in theft and property damage.

The break-in happened during the early morning hours of Saturday, May 30, at Rock’N River Water Park in Round Rock. According to the Round Rock Police Department, the suspects damaged part of the park’s perimeter fence to get inside, then caused damage and theft once they were on the property.

For families in Round Rock, the timing is what makes the story especially frustrating.

Rock’N River had just opened for the 2026 season on May 22, the same day city officials dedicated the latest expansion of the water park. According to the City of Round Rock, the project increased the size and capacity of the park and was part of the voter-approved 2023 general obligation bond package. That means the park was not just another summer attraction getting ready for visitors. It was a newly expanded community facility that taxpayers, city leaders, staff, and families had been waiting to enjoy.

Then, just over a week later, police were asking the public to help identify a group of suspected teens caught on camera.

According to CBS Austin, Round Rock police said the suspects caused more than $11,000 in theft and property damage at the water park. The department released surveillance images and asked anyone who recognized the people shown to contact investigators.

FOX 7 Austin also reported that cameras inside the park captured images of the suspects and that police were asking the public for help identifying them.

Police said the suspects got through the fence by damaging metal clamps that secured the bottom of a section of the perimeter fencing. Once inside, they allegedly went through the concession area. Images described in reports showed items scattered around, including ice cream treats and soda bottles.

It is the kind of mess that may sound minor until the total cost comes into focus.

A few broken items, damaged fencing, missing products, cleanup, repairs, and staff time can add up quickly. For a public water park, the cost is not just about replacing a snack or fixing a gate. It can affect operations, security, staffing, and the city’s ability to keep the facility ready for families during one of the busiest parts of the year.

Rock’N River is not a private backyard pool. It is a major family attraction inside Old Settlers Park, with slides, a lazy river, splash areas, pools, shaded spaces, and now a newly expanded capacity.

That is why this story has been getting attention beyond the usual police blotter.

People know what summer facilities mean in Texas. When the heat sets in, water parks become part of the rhythm of family life. Parents plan birthday outings there. Kids wait all school year for pool days. Staff members work long shifts keeping the place clean, safe, and moving. A break-in like this does not just damage property. It disrupts something the whole community uses.

Round Rock police said the investigation is ongoing. As of early reports, no arrests had been announced.

The department’s message to the public was simple: cameras were watching, and investigators want names.

For now, the good news is that the park was able to resume normal operations. But the incident is still a reminder that even a few minutes of bad decisions can create a very expensive problem for a public facility.

And in this case, police say the suspects picked a place with plenty of cameras.
